AFRICOM Hosts Combined Educational Training Seminar

U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) is hosting a security cooperation seminar at U.S. Embassies in 25 African nations. AFRICOM hosted the seminars for members of U.S. AFRICOM's Offices of Security Cooperation, who are responsible for administering security cooperation programs as well as Combating Terrorism Fellowship Education programs in Africa. The seminar will provide attendees with an overview of the various security, development and anti-terrorism programs operated by AFRICOM in Africa.

AFRICOM Visits ACOTA Training Sites in Burundi and Rwanda

A U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) command team recently visited Africa Contingency Operations Training and Assistance (ACOTA) sites in Burundi and Rwanda. The team visited with U.S. Army mentors and facilitators and assessed the program. ACOTA is a U.S. funded program designed to provide selected African militaries with the technical assistance and equipment necessary for quickly responding to crisis situations. The Rwandan ACOTA program trains soldiers for peacekeeping missions in Darfur, while the program in Burundi focuses on preparing soldiers for peacekeeping operations in Mogadishu. The AFRICOM command team provided a positive assessment of the work done in both countries.
